We Do Tennis Traineeship

About the We Do Tennis Traineeship

The We Do Tennis Traineeship is an exciting opportunity for you to secure a full-time job working across our tennis venues, whilst simultaneously acquiring formal LTA Coach Qualifications (paid for by us) and valuable work-based experiences across an 18-24 month period. It is an opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ and fast-track a career in tennis and coaching.

We Do Tennis are keen to recruit and develop coaches across our network of venues. So to find a Traineeship programme at a venue near you, click on the link below:

We Do Tennis is excited to be one of the few organisations selected by the LTA to participate in the  traineeship scheme. This initiative is part of the LTA’s effort to enhance tennis coaching opportunities across the country. As a key partner, We Do Tennis is committed to delivering a high-quality training programme that aligns with the LTA’s vision, offering aspiring coaches a unique pathway to develop their careers.

LTA Traineeship scheme – We Do Tennis are excited to be one of the few partner organisations selected for this initiative.

Please note: This programme is not a statutory-regulated apprenticeship.

Who can apply?

Applications are encouraged from all aspiring coaches who meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older on the first day of the programme (16 & 17-year-old candidates, please get in touch to discuss our apprenticeship options)
  • Currently holding an LTA Assistant (Level 1), with a minimum merit or distinction grade (Those without an LTA Assistant (Level 1) qualification are invited to contact us, we can support you through this qualification to ensure your eligibility for this programme)
  • Have successfully completed the LTA Instructor Readiness test (or be WTN 1-30)
  • Able to commit to an 18-24 month intensive development programme – working and learning
  • Be LTA Accredited at the start of the scheme – we can help you with this

For coaches who may be suitable, but have not yet completed their Level 1 course, please be aware that we may provide financial support to support your qualification journey.

Please note that in return for the significant investment it is making in qualification costs, We Do Tennis will expect a minimum commitment of 20 voluntary hours per trainee over the course of the traineeship. These hours will include elements such as:

  • Helping at Open Days / Big Tennis Weekends
  • Volunteering at Barclays Free Park Tennis
  • Supporting Team Tennis

We hope that these will also be seen by the trainee as fantastic professional development opportunities.

Benefits for Trainees

Financial Overview

Trainees can expect to earn the following:

  • This role will be paid via an hourly rate. As you progress through the programme, your hours will steadily increase over the first 12 month period
  • In addition to your payment, We Do Tennis will fully fund your training and qualifications

Trainees will be employed or engaged in a self-employed capacity by We Do Tennis, not by the LTA. While the LTA supports and endorses the framework of this earn-while-you-learn traineeship scheme, We Do Tennis is the direct employer or contractor. The LTA is involved in guiding and supporting the scheme, but all roles and responsibilities fall under We Do Tennis.

Please note that these figures assume that trainees make the expected progress through their qualifications, becoming an integral part of their employer’s coaching team.
